Shipping Container Build for Reece P. in Ravensdale, WA

by Sound Construction Services

February 2020

We provided and built out this fully custom 20′ by 8′ shipping container office for a digital artist in the Seattle suburbs. It’s so comfortable and stylish that it could double as a tiny home! With just a 34 day build, our team worked hard to bust this project out to meet the tight customer deadline. We started a customer design meeting followed by 2D and 3D renders for his approval. Special features like an artistic rain drip and business sign mounts were included. All materials used in the build were of the highest quality and we paid a lot of attention to the details. We cut, welded, and framed in a large 36 inch industrial steel door and two oversized windows to let in a lot of light and make the space feel even bigger. We installed an exterior Bard HVAC complete with Nest Thermostat as well as custom corrugated insulation to maximize interior space and provide excellent heating and cooling. The interior ceiling was sheetrocked and textured. Plenty of exterior and interior electrical outlets were wired each complete with USB charging. An external light was added and interior dimmable canless lights were installed. We added light grey LVT flooring with a wood grained format. The customer wanted a flat black painted ceiling and flat black tongue & groove planks on the inside. He also requested that we paint the entire exterior of the container the same color. We used Sherwin Williams Emerald grade latex paint inside and a high quality DTM (Direct to Metal) paint for the exterior. Wood trim was added to the exterior windows and door to complete the stylish look.

The black walls and ceiling inside and out look sinister and fantastic! It’s definitely a build for an artist. He was absolutely thrilled with his purchase.
